The Lovejoy High School Jazz Band welcomes three guests - Texins Jazz Band, Rodney Booth, and Chris McGuire. The concert will be Monday, May 4th at 7:00pm at the Lovejoy High School Auditorium. Proceeds benefit the Lovejoy Band Boosters.

Rodney Booth has been an active professional musician for several decades. A native of El Paso, TX he began his professional trumpet playing career at age sixteen. He received his degree in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas where he was a member of the renowned One O'Clock Lab Band. Rodney traveled across North and South America and Europe with Woody Herman's Thundering Herd Big Band. He has performed with many major recording artists such as Lou Rawls, Nancy Wilson, Wayne Newton, Dionne Warwick, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, and Natalie Cole.

Chris McGuire holds a Masters in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas where he performed in the One O'Clock Lab Band. He currently teaches at the University of Texas at Arlington. He plays saxophone and clarinet with many bands - both locally and around the world.

Texins Jazz Band
is a full 18-piece big band.
The group formed in the summer of 1986, sparked by an ad placed in a Texas Instruments company newspaper. The band separated from TI at the end of 2019 and operates as an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization. The majority of band members have degrees and careers in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
